Dental Clinic

Dental Clinic

Free check-ups for 200 children

Project Overview

The villagers of Kuntabesi have no direct access to dental care, and a journey of over 1 hour would be necessary to see a dentist. If the villagers can't go to the dentist - Asha will bring the dentist to them.

This project was fully funded by donor funds

The Project

Following a successful medical clinic organised by our In-Country Partner, Dharmik Nepal, it was decided that Asha would hold it's first dental clinic at the Shree Kalidevi Primary School in September 2011.

The cost of the clinic was set at $1,500 and this amount was reached thanks to our generous donors. A team of Kathmandu dentists along with dental students from the Kathmandu University would see over 200 children and adults in one day.

Location

Shree Kalidevi Primary School is located in the village of Kuntabesi 2 hours east of Kathmandu.

Kuntabesi is surrounded by agricultural lands and the foothills of the Himalayas.

Project Results

The day long clinic focused on 200 children and adults from the village with the budget being set at A$1500.00 which equates to A$5.00 per person. Everything from disposable gloves, suture equipment, face masks to antibiotics were purchased by Asha from donated funds. At the end of each consultation all the children were presented with a toothbrush and toothpaste and given a lesson in oral hygeine.

This clinic was a huge success thanks to our Kathmandu staff  and the dental team who came up from Kathmandu for the day long clinic. It is hoped we can run a follow up clinic in the near future to ensure dental health is maintained.

Of course these projects are only possible because of the generosity of our donors - a big THANK YOU to all those who gave to this wonderful cause.
