When Aayush was born it was discovered that his anal passage was completely closed off so a small hole was made into
his stomach so he could discharge excreta - no fancy colostomy bags here.
At 2 months of age he was suffering from anaemia and heart problems and he was diagnosed with 2 holes in his tiny heart. As his parents are farmers and extremely poor it was not possible for them to pay for corrective surgery to his anus or the heart operation, so the called came out to The Asha Foundation to help. Within a matter of weeks funds were raised and Aayush had his anal corrective surgery which has been a success. We were overwhelmed by the generosity and compassion shown by our donors and a huge thank you must go to our co-founder Mary Louise Parkinson who spread the plight of Aayush so quickly through her network of friends.
Just like Manisha's story there is a lovely post script to this story too.
When Aayush had his latest check up, it was discovered that one of
the holes in his heart has completely closed up and the 2nd hole is
smaller.
Hopefully
he wouldn't have to go through the trauma of heart surgery, but if he
does, The Asha Foundation will be there to assist.
Aayush is now attending kindergarten at his local village school enjoying playing and singing with his fellow classmates. His journey from a very sick little baby to a happy healthy boy was only possible because of our fantastic donors. Aayush's story is so heartwarming and is proof that the funds really do get through to those who need it.
