National United School

This project is currently a privately funded project by the Gleeson Family. Following a visit to Nepal in 2009 and visiting the National United School where the Sai children attend, Pauline Gleeson was motivated to help the school after being shown the computer room which at the time had 6 computers, but because of the chronic power shortages in Kathmandu, they could very rarely be used.

She and her husband Rohan provided the school with a battery inverter system which was installed to power the computers when there is no electricity and charge the batteries when there is.  They also connected the school to ADSL so now the school can truly be a part of the 21st century.  The installation work was carried out by Mark McIntyre - The Asha Foundations Nepal Director.

In March 2010 Pauline and Rohan visited the National United School and this time their took 5 laptop computers to the school.

Four of these went into the computer room and Mr JB Hamel the Principal received his very own laptop.

It is hoped that a scholarship for disadvantaged students can be set up in the future which will further their tertiary education.
