THE GOOD OIL PROJECT is an initiative of The Asha Foundation to help with the costs of sending children to school.
In rural Nepal girls often have to stay at home because their parents are too poor to pay school fees, buy books and pencils. Parents are often faced with a situation of making a choice between education and an essential basic commodity such as cooking oil - they simple cannot afford both.
THE GOOD OIL project can with your help, now make it possible to afford both as regular monthly school attendance by their child is rewarded with cooking oil for the whole family and writing books and pencils so the child can attend school.
Our pilot programme is based at the Bachala Prabi School situated 4 hours north of Kathmandu. It is a poor village with many Dalit (untouchable) families. The Asha Foundation hopes it can use this model in other poor villages.
